AB - This report was commissioned by the Council of Europe for the Bern Convention as an update of the one commissioned by them last year and presented to the 22nd meeting of the Standing Committee for information. Its remit is to ‘analyse the impact of wind farms on birds, establishing criteria for their environmental impact assessment and developing guidelines on precautions to be taken when selecting sites for wind farms’. This revised version has, as an additional annex (Annex 2), a draft recommendation for consideration by the 23rd meeting of the Standing Committee.An updated version of this report, Wind Farms and Birds: An Updated Analysis of the Effects of Wind Farms on Birds, and Best Practice Guidance on Integrated Planning and Impact Assessment, is also available on Tethys.
