This method includes complex information on simulation models, GIS methods, and ecological integrity indicators that was applied to a case study in the German North Sea. It is here where there are plans to build large offshore wind farms. Ultimately, the goal was to model the environmental effects of altered sea patterns. The ecological indicators were used to assess altering conditions and ecological shifts. Ecological indicators itself refers to the necessity to safeguard self-sustaining capability of ecosystems. The findings present that it is possible to establish new forms of anthropogenic impacts on the environment. However, the results did not show a consistent picture compared to the initial hypothesis.
