About Me:

I am a Postdoctoral research associate based in the north of Scotland. My research focuses on the growth of marine organisms on offshore structures and the ecological and technical implications that marine growth (also known as ‘biofouling’) can have. I am particularly interested in the human-mediated spread of marine non-native species as a result biofouling on marine structures and the ways in which we can reduce this impact through adequate biosecurity measures. Being in Thurso presents great opportunities for fieldwork as it is next door to the Pentland Firth and Orkney Waters Marine Energy Park where wave and tidal energy devices are being tested and commercially active energy farms are being developed. I also have an active research interest in sustainable seaweed harvesting.
