Abstract
This environmental monitoring report was conducted by the SEM-REV test site team in order to understand, characterize and measure the potential environmental impacts of the floating wind turbine, FLOATGEN. This 2 MW floating demonstrator, the float of which was developed by the company BW IDEOL, has been installed at sea and has been producing electricity since 2018.
This monitoring covers all the stages of these 3 years of testing in real conditions, from the initial state of the site to the installation phase of the anchoring systems, to the towing of the wind turbine on site and its connection to the electrical network, then during operation and during maintenance operations. The study concerns several fields from physics (underwater acoustics, electromagnetic fields, temperature) to biology (marine mammals, benthic communities, avifauna, etc.) including a social component with a landscape analysis.
To date, no strong effects or impacts have been noted on the marine environment among all of the areas studied. In addition, no environmental incident or pollution was caused, whether in the construction, operation or maintenance phases of the demonstrator.
Testing of the FLOATGEN demonstrator will continue until fall 2023. Once testing is complete, the demonstrator will be dismantled. The environmental monitoring report will be updated periodically to cover the entire testing phase and then dismantling.

Rapport de suivi environnemental de l'éolienne flottante FLOATGEN, site d'essais SEM-REV
Ce rapport de suivi environnemental a été mené par l'équipe du site d'essais SEM-REV afin de comprendre, caractériser et mesurer les potentiels impacts environnementaux de l’éolienne flottante, FLOATGEN. Ce démonstrateur flottant de 2 MW dont le flotteur a été développé par la société BW IDEOL est installé en mer et produit de l’électricité depuis 2018.
Ce suivi couvre toutes les étapes de ces 3 années de test en conditions réelles, de l’état initial du site à la phase d’installation des systèmes d’ancrage, au remorquage de l’éolienne sur site et à son raccordement au réseau électrique puis pendant son exploitation et lors des opérations de maintenance. L’étude concerne plusieurs domaines de la physique (acoustique sous-marine, champs électromagnétique, température) à la biologie (mammifères marins, communautés benthiques, avifaune, …) en passant par une composante sociale avec une analyse paysagère.
À ce jour, aucun effet ou impact fort n’a été relevé sur l’environnement marin parmi l’ensemble des domaines étudiés. De plus, aucun incident environnemental ni aucune pollution n’a été engendré, que ce soit dans les phases de travaux, d’exploitation ou de maintenance du démonstrateur.
Les essais du démonstrateur FLOATGEN se poursuivent jusqu’à l’automne 2023. Une fois les tests terminés, le démonstrateur sera démantelé. Le rapport de suivi environnemental sera mis à jour périodiquement pour couvrir l’ensemble de la phase de tests puis le démantèlement.
